Next generation dealer programs - A message from the founder

03/18/03

Welcome,

At this time, I would like to take a moment to give you a personalized overview of what we are trying to do.

I have been in the security field almost 20 years. The past 5 years, We have provided tech services for several companies in the Cleveland area.

The last two years I have been working on putting together a successful dealer network using the Internet as the sales medium. I believe that this venture we are putting together will be quite successful. I have looked at "Dealer Networks" around the Internet and find that most are nothing more than a listing on a Website. Several even charge for this listing. Although this is good for networking between dealers, they do nothing to promote their members to the public. I am looking to change all that.

To be successful on the Internet, you have to have a presence on the Internet. For potential customers to order your services, they have to find you. If I am looking for alarm monitoring on the Internet, would I see your company? Probably not. You have to come up in the first 2-3 pages of a search engine to be found at all.

As part of this venture, I have been registering domain names over the last two years that have security and monitoring keywords (helps with search engine placement). I have also registered abandoned security related domains (already on search engines and security listings). This, together with several hundred listings on free web servers, the cross listing of our security domains and links to our Websites from alarm dealers that join this venture, we should come up fairly high in security related Internet searches within 12 months of our launch.

The main reason customers will order services from SmartMonitoring is the fact that they will have a dealer in their immediate area. This will give us a major advantage over most Internet companies.

Dealers will also have the option of offering security products over the Internet using our E-commerce sites. Most security sales are made by a small handful of companies on the Internet even though there are hundreds of sites that offer equipment for sale on the Net. There are several reasons for this. One reason is they do not look professional, selling out of a small 2-3 page Website. Another is lack of a security certificate for the site or not taking credit cards on-line. A more common reason is they can't be found.

SmartMonitoring is currently working on putting together E-commerce sites for our dealers with customers buying security or DIY systems from a dealer in their area. Profits will be split with SmartMonitoring getting a small percentage and the dealer getting the monitoring and the service of the account. We have gotten inquiries from several midsize retail companies that may get involved in this venture with our group offering monitoring and support.

We plan on launching public affiliate programs that will allow Internet marketers to direct customers to our on-line stores for a small percentage of the profits as well as marketing our monitoring and GPS services for a small fee and $1.00+ MO/account residual. Dealers will get use of Subdomains on select sites and we may offer E-mail address for several of our key domains to affiliate members once our mailservers are in place.

SmartMonitoring makes it's profit from the services the dealers sell. We are not a Central Station, but we are partnering with several Central Stations. SmartMonitoring will make a small percentage of each monitored account that comes on-line through our group. That means we don't make a profit unless the dealer does. We will help increase your profits by partnering with companies that offer unique services that most dealers don't offer (GPS, background checks, etc...). Most of these transactions can be completed over the Internet by the customer and companies wanting these services.

We are looking for dealers committed to aggressively market themselves. I will ask all dealers that join us to help promote our Websites and services through the Internet. I will direct interested dealers to several Internet classes that teach marketing. If the public can't find us, we will not succeed. The Internet is dominated by a handful of large companies, leaving smaller companies to be found on the 50th page of an Internet search... We will teach you how to put mirrors of your Websites on free servers that you find throughout the Internet and how to use keywords and Metatags when submitting your page(s) to search engines. Working together will allow us to get the high listings needed to be successful on the Information Superhighway.

The restricted dealer pages and lounge can be accessed around mid-April on the SmartMonitoring site. I have spent the last two years refining my ideas on ways to launch a dealer program that will really work for the dealer. With input from our dealers coming in and working as a team, I believe we can make this unique venture a success. Please contact me with any questions, suggestions or concerns.

Yours in Security,
